“You should come back with me.”
“Whaddaya mean?” Steve says, around a mouthful of pizza.
“To New York.”
There isn’t music playing, but if there were, this is when the record would scratch and everyone would freeze. Steve lowers his slice of pizza and rubs self-consciously at the red sauce at the corner of his mouth.
“Huh?”
“You should come back with me to New York,” Eddie repeats.
“To visit? Or, like… to live there?”
In which Eddie has feelings about Steve's baseball coach khakis, dating long-distance, and what the future holds for their definitely-alive, definitely not doomed-by-canon relationship.
(Basically the Steddie version of the Hollanov cottage conversation, wherein Eddie is Shane and plans their future for an oblivious Steve.)
