Summary
Izuku Midoriya, is getting ready to welcome in a new class of aspiring heroes. Just as he prepares himself for another year as one of the top teachers at UA, he learns that some of his best friends are being sent on a mission overseas. The only one who will tell him anything is Katsuki, and even he's being unusually careful. He wonders if he can have his new mech suit ready to join them, but the call comes quickly, and he's left behind again. He never imagined that this mission would become so personal, or that his feelings for his best friend would come to light after so long in the dark.
Katsuki Bakugo returned to Japan after a 1-year internship in the United States that quickly turned into a 3-year internship, and the guilt of how he left that night still eats at him. When he returned to Japan after a serious accident with his Sensei, he vowed to take his relationships more seriously. When he shocked the hero world by declaring that he would remain unsigned to any agency, effectively "going rogue", he thought he would have more opportunities to distract himself from what was out of his reach. He never thought healing would come from protecting his childhood friend... or a class full of gremlins.

Will simpered, shaking his head. "It's nothing, I promise."
Will cradled the back of Mike's head and gingerly guided it back down to his chest. He ran his fingers through Mike's hair, scratching his scalp comfortingly.
"I just-" Will faltered, "I love you, man. You know that."
Mike's heart staggered uncomfortably in his chest. I think I love you the way I'm supposed to love girls, he thought, before willing himself into composure.
"Yeah. I love you too." He replied, "You're my best friend."
Mike's confusing feelings about Will come to fruition the summer before they leave for college. It becomes increasingly difficult to hide as the weather gets hotter and they start sleeping in the same bed.
