Chapter Text
Nancy had just successfully avoided eating dinner and was grabbing a book to read. When she walked downstairs her mother, father and Holly were all sitting. Karen and Holly looked worried whereas Ted looked like he’d rather be anywhere else. Nancy stepped in fully with a confused smile on her face before she could say anything Karen said “Nancy please sit down” the concern wavering in her voice. Nancy sat her smile fading she tried to ask what was wrong but her mother spoke to soon “Nancy We are worried about you” Karen said pausing for a moment to take a breath “You haven't been eating very much for at least a 3 months and have gotten dangerously thin and we talked about it and we are sending you to HIMH" Karen finished the tears starting to come. Nancy looked over to see Holly crying too. Nancy couldn't breath; she sat up quickly, practically running to her room and slamming her door. She could hear her mother and sister come up. She could hear her mother tell crying Holly to wait outside well she went in. A minute later her mother stepped in and sat on the edge of the bed. Nancy looked up “How long have you known” she choked out the words turning into a sob karen looked over and replied “I noticed 3 months ago i was in denial but as i've been watching i know im not crazy” Nancy nodded turning away Karen took that as her sign to leave. Shortly after, Holly came into the room, eyes red and puffy “Why?” she asked as if that's all she could muster, Nancy looked over blinking back tears "I need to be perfect" she said as holly got in the bed like they used to when they had "sleepovers". Holly small face filled with confusion and worry she wanted to say something about what Nancy Just said but didn't instead saying "Mike got there a month ago and now you i'll be all alone" Holly didn't want to sound selfish but that was a fact she would be all alone. Nancy pulled her closer and they lied there soaking up every moment they could have of it before falling asleep.
When Nancy woke up she was told they would be leaving at one to get there on time since it was an hour away. Nancy couldn't pack much as clothes, blankets and Most things where provided so she just packed a small bag with a few things and her most prized item Mr. Rabbit. she wanted to spend extra time with Holly Before she left so she started doing Holly's hair.
Nancy did holly's hair and makeup before being called to go. Nancy cried and hugged Holly even though they were able to see each other every Saturday It still felt like a piece of her was being ripped away. They got in the car and drove in silence despite her mothers attempts at coversation. When they pulled up to HIMH all Nancy could think was welcome to hell.
