Summary
He doesn’t get out of bed on Monday. Rose calls him on Tuesday, five times actually, and he ignores it. He lays in bed, drifts in and out of sleep, drifts in and out of a panic attack as he pictures Ilya covered in broken glass. Ilya crying out for help. The airbag breaking his nose. His beautiful freckles splattered across the pavement.
He takes a shower on Tuesday night and uses Ilya’s shampoo by mistake, and the panic starts again. It takes Yuna and David and Rose, who had given up on calling him and driven up from her movie shoot in Philly, to get him back into bed. No one bothers to turn off the shower.
On Wednesday, Shane decides to mow the lawn.
Ilya dies on a Sunday. He’s buried on the next. This is the story of the week in between, told by the people who love him.
