Summary
“‘Well good, because Janeway is, like, way too old for you,’ Mariner drawled, leaning back. ‘Not to mention completely out of your league, I mean she’s one of the most famous people in Starfleet.’”
The first rule of Starfleet romances is to never fall in love with a hologram. The second is to never fall for a senior officer. Thankfully, Boimler does not have a crush on the famous admiral, so running a Voyager bridge simulation on the holodeck was totally innocent—no matter how much Mariner insists otherwise.
(Or, Boimler is a lonely fanboy, Mariner is jealous, and Janeway passes on some hard-won life advice.)

Summary
The year is 2404 and the U.S.S. San Francisco, flagship of the California class, has just been assigned a new senior staff. For the four former lower-deckers, it's the opportunity of a lifetime—especially for the first-time captain and commander, who have their teenage daughter in tow.
But when an unexpected distress call puts the fledgling bridge crew between a rock and the Prime Directive, it calls everyone's duties into question—to Starfleet, to each other, and to themselves. Is it really possible to command a starship and still remain true to oneself? And can a relationship which has always thrived on teamwork and difference survive in the hierarchy of captain and first mate?
