Summary
A lot of people think Ben's boring. I get it. But as an unabashed lover of Superman, I know there's a lot more going on in the hearts of people who just want to do the right thing in a world that doesn't always agree with them. Ben is a good guy. So good that if Mal loved someone else, he would stop at nothing to help them be together.
Ben's opening scene from Descendants 1 goes ever so slightly differently, leading to him forming a parasocial relationship with the VKs before they ever arrive in Auradon. Originally intended as a Ben POV fic where he plays cupid for slowburn Malvie (Mevie?). Spoiler alert: they barely needed him.

Summary
Some months after the events of Ben's coronation as High King of Auradon, Mal struggles with her roles as Lady of the Isle and Acting Consort. She knows that what she does is important for the future of the Isle, but Auradon itself is weighing on her. Despite the constant support of her dearest and closest companion, Princess Evie of Germonia, Mal has to rely on her magic to get through the day. Little does she realize that their magical resonance that saved the kingdom from Maleficent may end up meaning something far more mundane.
