When the core 4 plus the sea three plus Audrey go temple exploring, they find that it was a great idea. Until Evie accidentally reads and activates a spell to trigger an artifact to send everyone in the room back in time, and Mal accidentally trips and triggers the spell.
When they get back, they realized a few things were altered for them already in this new timeline - including a new child of Jafar and Maleficent. But going back to the past to be allowed to change things proves to not be a bad thing. First orders of business - get Jay (aka - the missing prince of Agrabah, Prince Ali) off the isle and convince him to go.
