Determined to replicate that success, he pays a visit to the offices of 93.3 KYLL-FM to meet the host— who seems wholly unimpressed by his power and fame, and his offer to let Alastor share in it. Determined not to be outshone by the proclaimed prince of radio, Vincent says he'll just buy the station for himself and make Alastor his employee. Al doesn't like that. He decides that perhaps Vincent Whittman needs to return to New York City— in a body bag. But things take a turn when the god of entertainment proves he's not just a handsome face and charming voice.

I’m not your fan, I fucking insulted you in the letter! Vincent silently raged, gripping his rye glass so tightly he feared the glass would shatter in his hand.
“– would chase after such a boring and ridiculous dream crushes my heart! And being so sloppy in your execution is... well, it’s shameful! Where is the sophistication?! The cunning?” The commentator broke down into a series of sharp, rattling cackles, each laugh louder, more dismissive, than the last. “Probably shouldn’t brag then, eh?”

The excitement of finally having Alastor under his clutches has faded, leaving nothing but dullness in its wake. Wrongness, one might say. Wrongness that permeated every feeling that crossed Vox's spiralling mind.
His blood on his hands did not satisfy him. Breaking down before him even less so. And storming out of the room, just to take out his frustrations on his own body, alone, with nothing but the glow of countless screens displaying one image to accompany him? "Dear Vox," Alastor laughed softly, an ominous undertone on the tip of his tongue, "I don't believe you understand."
Abruptly, the grip on his knife tightened with the trace of a warning on his lips.
"I will be the death of you. I will build you up and break you down as I please. I will stab you in the back and leave you to bleed. I will rip into your mind, your heart, your soul, anything and everything you've ever known, and I won't feel any remorse whatsoever." He leaned in slightly, his voice a soft hiss. "I am the very danger you hide from."
And before he could think about what he was doing, Vox reached up and pressed his hands over Alastor's. Ignoring the warmth of his calloused, bloodstained fingers, he softly tugged the blade closer to his throat, a small smirk concealing the agonizing fear churning in his stomach.
"Well, who ever won it all by playing it safe?"

Vox arrives in hell, nervous and insecure, and he just needs someone to guide him through at least the first few years of his life here. Alastor surprises himself by becoming something of a mentor for him, but then their relationship turns into something more emotionally close and intense.
