Phil would never force Dan to come out of the closet. He's always been very supportive of him, and the last thing he’d want is for Dan to come out before he is ready. He'd been out as gay since he began university, but was completely willing to hide his sexuality from the public to prevent Dan from being forced to come out too soon. Except that was with the pretense that eventually Dan would accept himself.
Recently, it felt like he was moving backwards, especially with how aggressively Dan had been reacting towards the fans who questioned his sexuality. Phil loves Dan more than anything, and he’ll always be there for him as a friend, but he thinks the younger boy needs some space away from their relationship to figure things out for himself, so Phil decides they need a break.
That was six months ago.
Dan and Phil wake up in each other's bodies without any explanation for why this is happening. Is taking a walk in Phil's shoes exactly what Dan needed to finally accept the fact that his sexuality isn't something he needs to be ashamed of?
