Summary

The spell shatters, and the two wake up in 2002.
There, Dean is twenty-three and drifting aimlessly through Palo Alto, watching his brother from a distance. As he observes Sam’s freedom, he feels the urge to try something like it — even if just for one night. He ends up getting sucked off by some guy in the Impala. He just didn’t expect to be seen.
Castiel, a socially awkward barista with scared blue eyes, witnesses the moment. Worse: he’s the acquaintance Dean had promised to rent a spare room in his apartment to. Now, the two are stuck living together, carrying secrets they don’t even know they have — while Jack, somewhere between Heaven and Earth, tries to find a way to fix everything.

He can feel the dry press of dirt on his lips, feel a fractured rib echoing heat into his torso, enough to warm his leather jacket. He can feel his hope shattering like a beer bottle on a brick wall at the end of a shitty night.
Dean breathes out, and it’s barely enough to rustle the leaves in front of him. He closes his eyes.
After failing to kill Lucifer with the Colt, Dean says yes to Michael to ensure Sam and Cas' safety, thus sparking the Apocalypse of biblical prophecy. But surviving it himself is another matter altogether.

Castiel has lived as a recluse the past few years after he was injured and if it weren’t for him moving, he wouldn’t even be out of the house. As luck has it, his car breaks down, leaving him no choice but to call a tow truck. The mechanic and his saviour, Dean, offers to drive him home and Castiel, to his own surprise, accepts.

Dean will help raise money for charity projects and gain back his good-boy image while Castiel benefits from his popularity.
But Castiel isn't so easily impressed by the superstar... he cares more about doing good in the world, caring for others, and using his heart as a moral compass.
Dean's luxurious, seemingly carefree and indulgent life doesn't exactly fit that frame.
