    Summary

World War Two. After the first 'Great War', the idea of another World War was beginning to be feared. Fighting had always been an almost strictly competitive affair, but after the now half-forgotten war, it was becoming increasingly apparent that global-scale war was more about sorrow; it was an entire cycle of bloodlust, grief, and revenge. However, it was inevitable. So why not participate?

    Summary

And suddenly, the Germans crossed the border through the presumably unsurpassable Ardennes forest, sweeping through Belgium and Luxembourg on their lightning drive toward France.

    Panic followed.

The troops are cut off, surrounded, and pushed to the sea. The total surrender of France and Britain seems inevitable. ..

That is, unless the Dynamo Operation succeeds.

“Je te garderai en vie, par n’importe quel moyen nécessaire.” Il arriva à murmurer, sa voix si basse qu’elle n’aurait sûrement pas su avoir la capacité de l’entendre si ce n’était pour leur proximité. “Déteste-moi, hurle-moi dessus comme ça te chante du moment que tu n’ailles nulle part où je ne peux te voir.”

“I’ll keep you alive, by any means necessary.” He only managed to say, voice so low she probably would not have been able to hear him if she was not as she was. “Hate me, yell at me all you want so as long as you don’t go where I can’t see you.”

    "What's wrong?" Tommy asked finally.

Without him having to say anything, Tommy could somehow sense how embarrassed Gibson was all of a sudden. How he refused to meet Tommy's gaze, how his hands continuously fidgeted with his garments, and how he struggled to say anything.

    Summary

There were signs, Tommy knows this now. The hastily tied boots next to a dead man's exposed feet, a too-small uniform that barely kept him warm, especially as it shrunk with cold saltwater, giving him rigid posture and a small but noticeable limp on those last days. The sort of vulpine cunning as he silently directed Tommy to make sure they both looked like soldiers cast off in the first aid ship sunk at the mole, pulling themselves underwater to join the rest of the survivors. Anxious looks that said "if we look the part, we get to go home." Who knows how long he’d been trying to escape this.

“Whoever stitched you up initially—” Ralph raises his good hand. Alec’s expression flattens. “You know what I mean. They did a rotten job of it.”

“So you’ve said, perhaps a dozen times.”

“I’d quit having to remind you if you’d quit overdoing it.”

“Am I overdoing it, or not doing enough? Never any middle ground, is there—”

“Slow,” Alec says, his mouth round and purposeful around each vowel dropped low to doctoral warning, “down.”

This is the ending to my story ‘Rose Parisienne/English Rose’. Could have been a chapter but I did not want to change the original rating. WARNING: Rosey character has PTSD, war horrors alluded to… I thought I was done with this AU but the story came back and presented me with all the loose ends it wanted tied, in an accusatory manner ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

This Rosey/Bauer has two distinct parts: one is a detective (mystery) story in the spirit of Poe (his Dupin stories) and Conan-Doyle. The second is ‘boys suddenly emerge in the real world’ type of scenario where things go a bit AU. Pick and choose as you like, or read both! 12/04: Chapter 1 is finished! 12/09 Posted Chapter 2. 12/15 Added the 'English Rose' chapterlet, the final one.

    Summary

The Songbird of the Strait is a myth.

A legend for morale, is what Draco Malfoy thinks when whispers of the woman who sings beautiful songs on the route back to Dover, whose ship is never damaged, leak out onto Dunkirk beach. There’s no more magic in this world for Draco, unable to sleep, haunted by the blood on his hands.

On June 2nd, his unit are finally scheduled for evacuation. His ship is expected to meet heavy attacks, but whispers spread that the Songbird is onboard, that when she sings, bombs and torpedoes miss. Draco dismisses it all, until he comes face to face with an old rival. And maybe there’s some truth in the legend after all…

Set during the evacuation of Dunkirk in June of 1940. Inspired by Taylor Swift's incomparable music and my urge to turn as many characters as possible into musicians.

    Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!
    Fremde, étranger, stranger--

There was a cabaret, and there was a master of ceremonies... and there was a city called Berlin, in a country called Germany...and it was the end of the world, and I was dancing with Sherlock Holmes, and we were both fast asleep.

So begins John H. Watson's Great Work. It is the story of two men who meet just before the tide of war and fascism sweeps across Europe and the world. Circumstances will separate them, but the arc of history is long and bends towards love.
