Sterling Cooper moved back home from Zuzu City as a final chance to try to stay clean, keep his head down and not make waves in Pelican Town. He wasn't expecting to meet someone like Eli--a rooftop-climbing, cryptid-hunting, ridiculously charming cryptozoologist who decided to drag him into a mystery of magical creatures and midnight stakeouts.
But when a chance encounter under the stars turns into nights of stargazing, half-truths, and maybe-sightings of maybe-real creatures, Sterling finds himself pulled into Eli’s world.

Started as a short writing exercise/drabble, turned into a short story off to the side of Mostly Mythical, and now further expanded into a full oneshot that extends the short story (Mostly Mythical B-Sides Ch. 4) and let's things become more intimate and passionate where the other version ended without showing the extended night together. This isn't in alignment with the plot of Mostly Mythical but it was too cute to NOT make an extended NSFW version.

He doesn’t expect anything extraordinary that will totally fuck up his plans. And he certainly does not expect the sudden meeting with a clearly traumatised adventurer living in a tent on the beach.
Mateo has been running from their past for way too long. Maybe coming back to the valley will give them a chance to pay for their past mistakes. But taking the few steps towards change are hard, especially when there’s someone on the floor in front of you, covered in slimes.
