“You need to keep following orders, Ziva. It is a part of your job. It is a requirement.”
Her first real mission. No partner, no supervisor. Just a handler. It was just a surveillance mission, something that she couldn’t possibly mess up. The child of a diplomat was prone to disappearing at random times, or so most thought. Ziva had worked out that those “random times” happened to be times when he had been requested to come home by his father to do some sort of job for him, like attend an event or partake in a particularly important dinner. She, of course, had been tasked with following the child and making sure that they did not come into any harm.
Of course, she personally had added that, if possible, she would make sure that the child attended the events their father requested them to. After all, it would not do for the young man to keep disobeying his father. She would not dream of doing the same to her own. Disobeying a parent to act upon your own whims seemed unfathomable to her.

Tony was rarely allowed to play the heavy, in an interrogation, as that was usually Gibbs. In fact, there were very few rare ones still at the agency that remembered the last time he didn’t come off as the clown, and nobody before or in between times remembered times Gibbs not questioning someone brought in.
But now, now he was being brought from a fight with a Kidon Officer almost straight from the doctor’s office to the overseas plane to be questioned by the Officer’s Leader and Foreign Spy Head. To which he decided it was time to get into the old heavy mindset he hadn’t been able to play much since coming to be under Gibbs. Tony quietly popped his neck and settled himself to get ready as the plane taxied off the runway to take off to Israel.Series

Ziva looks down at her hands, wondering how she ended up like this. It’s not the first time that someone had called her heartless, or cold, or cruel. But it was different this time, this time it was Tony. And somehow, after working together the way they have, it hurt worse than anything else. Some part of her wants to say he didn’t mean it, that he was just venting. He hadn’t even meant for her to hear. He was speaking to McGee, complaining that she never talks to them. That she pretends like nothing hurts her, and that she’s cold and cruel.
But there were things that made her this way. It wasn’t her fault.
