He stopped to look over himself in the mirror. His hair was still dripping and he had a couple bruises littering his face. Tommy also took note of the small scrape at the bottom left side of his jaw. He definitely looked like he’d gotten into another fight. His family was definitely going to be worried about that, he might even get a scolding from his dad about fighting. He was not looking forward to that tonight.
He sighed as he approached the door. Slowly turning the knob and pushing it open. Whatever he was expecting to find at eight something at night, it wasn’t this. In front of him sat his brother in a wooden dining chair, with a few drops of blood on his yellow sweater, holding a handful of tissues to his nose. His father stood in front of him, ice pack in hand, black wings bristled from worry. They only seemed to stand up more as the older man looked over Tommy.
“What the hell happened to you?”

“Oh thank god, here, please, I hate guns, I don’t want to hold this–” Tommy shoved the gun into Monarch’s hands, feeling at least a little anxiety leave him without the weapon in his grasp. Tommy was about to thank the hero again when he noticed Monarch wasn’t smiling. They handed the gun to Thunder, and grabbed handcuffs from his belt. Tommy felt his heart drop.
“Icarus, you are under arrest for illegal vigilantism, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstructing justice, and attacking heroes. If you come quietly, we can do this the easy way.” Monarch reached for Tommy’s shoulder, and the boy pulled away, taking a step back.
“Listen big man, this is a huge misunderstanding. I’m not Icarus. I’m just a kid going trick or treating. This is my costume.” Monarch seemed unconvinced.
“Likely story Icarus. Turn around, put your hands behind your back.”
or, Tommy wears an Icarus costume on Halloween, stops a mugger, and gets mistaken for a vigilante.

“You know, if Dream didn’t adopt you, I would make Phil do it” Wilbur said with a quiet chuckle. Why did Tommy melt? “Me and my little brother Tommy” What is happening to him? Why is he here? Something is wrong.
He makes eye contact with Wilbur. “Error” flashing in front of his eyes and it won't stop. He can feel a headache forming. But he can't look away from brown eyes. There is something in them that makes him scared but safe at the same time.
The life of Tommy Innit Wastaken, and what happened to him. Did he die or is he alive?
Is he alone in a world full of villains, heroes, and vigilantes alike? Or is he one of them?

For years now, L’Manburg had been living under the constant looming threat of the Puppeteer, a cunning villain with a passionate and borderline sadistic love for death. He stated publicly before that his ultimate objective was to find a cure for mortality, though it didn’t seem like he was anywhere close to achieving his objective by the ever-increasing pile of corpses lying at his feet.
He was a slippery one, and in eight years of activity, no one had been able to find any hint of where his hideout might be. All the most advanced tracking technology in the world had led to nothing but one wild goose chase after another, sometimes even leading the heroes well out of town, only to trap them and slaughter them like cattle once they were too far for reinforcements to reach them in a timely manner.
That all changed when Tommy, who wasn’t even a hero, was unfortunate enough to catch Puppeteer slipping back into his hideout underneath Church Prime as he was going for an early prayer before work.

Seeing the news the next day had been the worst. He didn’t feel the stabbing guilt till then. The news anchors spoke of his name with malice, going as far to call it hypocritical. His father had punched a hole through the plaster of their apartment wall. The action had caused him to flinch hard, worried for the day a hero would respond to his and Wilbur’s crimes. The hole was covered with a picture of orchids and hydrangeas by the time Tommy had returned home. Tommy had just sat on his couch as the TV droned on about the attack. Each news station had the same story, every day, every hour.
“Soot’s accomplice, Reverent, has now been marked as a high level, class A threat. The People’s Protection Agency has also increased his bounty as well as issuing a dead or alive order. The PPA has also issued a curfew for all non essential workers between the hours of 9 PM and 5 AM. If you have any information about Soot and Reverent, please contact your local PPA or call the toll free number…”
Wilbur had texted him only an hour later, congratulating him again on making it to the big leagues. Tommy responded with a smiley face.

Tommy knows he's always bounced homes because of his ability, that's why he hates the rich.
But what's bigger than his hate of rich people is his hatred for both heroes and villains. He cannot stand either side, the heroes who cover up missing villains and the villains who do not care about anything.
Hell, he can barely stand other vigilantes but they're the most tolerable.
"Why hasn't anyone destroyed both sides? Without one, what's the other?" Great question, a great question Tommy can give the whole city an answer to.

Foolish doesn't have much to hide, but he is afraid of what the future has in store for him. It is Election night, after all. He can only pray that Borrower is away, as far as he can get. Eyes are watching, with far more interest than ever before.

“Oh shut up,” Siren shouted back as he began to chase Tommy around the rooftop. They managed to get across from each, bracing to tackle the other. When something happened that caused Tommy to stiffen and Siren to look at him with confusion.
His phone rang. The bubbly tune of The Able Sisters played from the phone in his pocket. The ringtone had been a joke, his favorite tune for his favorite person.
“Is your ringtone the Able Sisters?” Siren asked as if such a concept was too much for his pea brain.
Or Tommy is Vigilante, but villains are really no big deal when he deals with things like father figures, daddy issues, new siblings, and godly family members causing chaos. Poor boy.
