Just to make a point Roy tugs Jason closer by his hips, letting his arms loop around his waist to steady him while Jason grips Roy's hips like a lifeline. It's that action that burns through the haze enough for Roy to realize that this was a terrible idea.
Like maybe the worst fucking idea he's ever had.
Or the best.
Jason glances up at him through his eyelashes and even though he looks kind of unsure he settles more of his weight against Roy, trusting him to offer support as Jay lazily grinds their hips together to the beat of the music, neon lights flashing fast enough to make Roy Dizzy.
His Jaybird, always so bold. Except Jason isn't his and Roy needs to get a grip if he's forgetting that already.

“I remember,” he says because it’s true. He remembers when Dick first brought his little brother to the tower. The kid was a little ball of energy. Where Dick had been a fluid kind of energy, Jason had been an eruption. The Jason he knows now shows his happiness in smart quips, hidden smiles, and low chuckles. It’s like all that dirt he woke up under that day never stopped muffling him. A part of him was still, and would probably forever be buried.
“I sometimes try to channel that kid I used to be. Like maybe he’s still there, maybe that crowbar or all the other bullshit didn’t kill him off all the way.”

As a kid, he was small and malnourished, and it was easy to let himself be swept up into Bruce's arms whenever he got injured on patrol or when he needed the comfort of his father. After the pit, he felt so wrong in his body. He had grown bigger than he had ever expected, bulky muscles that took up too much room in his skin.
He could no longer be swept up into somebody's arms whenever he needed the help, instead needing to be supported by two shoulders as he hobbled over to wherever they needed him to go. A broken ankle had him hopping on one leg back to the Batmobile, and crippling exhaustion had him lying on the floor, passed out until he was finally able to find the energy to push himself back up.
