“Hey Jax..” Pomni starts to call out quietly but upon seeing the back of his shoulders tense further she pauses.
Are you okay? She wants to ask.
But her gut tells her that that might not be the best approach with Jax yet. The memory of him hunched over the buttons console in despair, raw and full of hurt comes unbidden.
“...What is this place?” She asks instead, relieved to see that his shoulders slightly sagged down as if in relief.
Jax cracked one eye open and glanced lazily toward the far wall.

The cast isn't doing so great after the events of episode 7... both from having their spirits shattered with the false exit and also from the revelation that Caine has the ability to mess with their minds.
Maybe it's better to just let themselves abstract... fade away into the circus with everyone else... maybe it's the only way to get one up over Caine. Letting him suffer the consequences of his actions and be left alone in the circus, like he was afraid of.

Pomni wondered why Jax's jokes were becoming increasingly hurtful and less funny, her mind was drying up like cold porcelain as she replayed her fight with him like scratched record.
Pomni barely remembered anything from when she was human; it was as if the digital circus fixed her too much in the present, so she very rarely remembered things coherently or for long periods. But as she recapped her fight with Jax... she began to remember more deeply about her life as a human and realized that no one took her seriously while she was alive.
