Summary
"Perfect timing, I got all the supplies I needed." Rictor played casual as his eyes zeroed in on Shatterstar's appearance, looking for any kind of insight as to what the hell Shatterstar got up to in the few hours he was left alone. "So, how was your day?"
"Uneventful," Shatterstar said. He buckled himself in carefully, slowly, avoiding looking anywhere in Rictor's direction.
"Oh, lots to talk about, huh?" Rictor said through gritted teeth. "Gonna be a long ride home, I take it?"
"Actually, Rictor…" Shatterstar trailed off and Rictor risked a glance just to see the other's gaze locked out his own window. Away from Rictor. "It was rather interesting…"
"… If I may tell you about it…" Shatterstar's hand moved to his hair, twisting a lock around his finger and tugging. "And also, tell you about… my wife."

"Uh," Julio says, turning down the volume, "What?" He wrinkles his nose, not sure if this is some kinda attempt at making a joke. "Did I do something to piss you off?"
Shatterstar's brows knit together and he looks confused. "No. I am not angry at you. I am-" he pauses, like he's looking for the right word, and Julio waits patiently for him to figure it out "-Excited. Anticipating something that I am looking forward to."
"You want us to go out and do something?" he guesses. "You made some plans for us?"

There are no Día de Muertos fic about Rictor despite him being Mexican so I needed to do something about it. Also, this theme worked perfectly to put into words some of my ideas regarding Ric's relationship with his family, so the story is mostly him during his time in México once he left X-Force because again, not enough fics talk about that time period from his POV.
