Listening to Elisa brought home to David how much he’s missed the passion that people can have for art and the emotions it can evoke for both the creator and the observers. His gallery was born out of love for that aspect of art – the revelation that his success was funded by his parents didn’t change that fact, even as it cast a dark shadow of self-doubt over his own abilities.
That same love is part of what drives him forward with the store – the chance to see people’s passion and the artistry and imagination involved in creating their products.
Between the gallery and the store, he’s an expert, by now, at displaying other people’s art. Creating his own, not so much.
