Summary
When Bowser Kidnaps Princess Peach, the Mushroom Kingdom declares war on Bowser’s kingdom to get Peach back. Mario is determined as ever to bring Peach back and has multiple allies from different worlds to counter Bowser's allies. Mario’s younger brother Luigi is traveling to Sarsaland hoping their Princess, Daisy will ally with the Mushroom Kingdom.
Hyrule allies with Mario to fight Bowser as they deal with Bowser’s strong ally, Ganondorf, and his army. Link, an appointed knight, must protect his lover Queen Zelda from an imposter who seeks to kill her.
The Pokemon trainers of the Kanto region also have allied with The Mushroom Kingdom against Bowser and Team Rocket, another one of Bowser’s allies. Trainers Red and Leaf become spies against Team Rocket where they encounter Team Rocket members, Jessie and James.
When the Octarians ally with Bowser, the Inklings ally with the Mushroom Kingdom to counter a potential invasion of the Splatlands. When the Captain of the Squidbeak Splatoon, Cuttlefish dies, his protege Agent 3 takes his place. Meanwhile, Squidbeak Splatoon member Pearl gets separated on a mission and stumbles upon high-ranking Octoling engineer, Marina.

When he is encountered by some old friends in an altercation in a dark alley, he has no option but to begrudgingly help them in their mission to take back the Mushroom World, without the help of Super Mario.

20 years after their mysterious arrival in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Luigi are granted their long awaited knighthood. To their shock, however, the newly appointed Emerald Knight is to be sent far from the kingdom gates, stationed at the front lines as their first line of defense against the invading koopa army.
Luigi had been hesitant enough about the appointment, and that was before he was captured by the Darkland forces, held hostage by it's fearsome leader, King Bowser, uniter of the clans.
Convinced of his brother's demise, Mario heads down a dark path of vengeance and retribution, determined to make the whole of the Darkland pay for their crimes.
But Luigi is not dead, or at least not yet. He's unsure how long he's meant to last with a fire breathing dragon turtle breathing down his neck.
