Summary
V1 was a machine without a past and heading into nothingness, acting as the only thing he had been trying to run away from all along: Death itself. As the ultimate harbinger of death, he had no joy in life but terrorizing.
It took one angel to change everything, for the all-devouring machine of ultimate destruction to deem life as his most sacred thing. He knew he had changed forever when he saw love in blood, adoration in gold, and salvation in Gabriel’s presence. Logic and utility lost meaning before his gradient presence; his chuckles a strike against the emptiness of existence. The world was no longer to thrive in its destruction, but to gift it to Gabriel. Bullets stopped before his presence, cries of war turned into hymns.
Or maybe they had always been that way, only V1 was the enforcer of the fate he had been trying to run away from all along. But with an angel who taught him to live the life he had been trying to preserve for so long, maybe there waited a future where civilization thrived once more. Built just to make one angel happy—Gabriel didn’t have to know that detail.
Or: V1’s overwhelming love breaks him free from his fate, and he learns to value life to make Gabriel happy.

"Yeah, pretty much," Mirage drawled. "It's kind of boring for the first few weeks before the insanity sets in, but after an indeterminable amount of time that depends on the individual, the general apathy numbs everything out and you snap back into sanity. Or deeper into insanity. Depends on your outlook, I guess."

Mirage is used to existing in a perpetual loop of running late to a school she will never arrive at, resigned to a boring, slice-of-life existence that didn't really have any meaning. Then she runs into two outliers of the loops: a machine called V1 and an angel called Gabriel. Now the loops are a little interesting, even if it is refereeing/popcorning at these two attempting to kill each other around the loop's strict rules of "no killing" and "no violence allowed".
The loop really likes its slice-of-life fluff, okay.

Mirage is tired of her life at school. She's tired of not having friends, of being right on the edge of failing every class she's in. So when her and V1 come up with the idea to swap places for a day, she takes the opportunity without even thinking.
However, an obstacle gets in V1's way; Gabrielle. Hopefully when Mirage returns, she won't be too upset about how much he impacted her life in a single day...

Mirage sees V1 slam down on the gas pedal as if it’ll phase through the carpet and onto the road. The dashboard speedometer is nowhere close to dipping below halfway and V2 chastises it; are you trying to go careening off the edge of the world and get us all killed?!
V1’s optic lid curves up in the rearview mirror. Maybe that’s the plan.
The machine wants out. Guess there’s no better way to go about it than to be accompanied by ghosts riding shotgun and in your backseat.
