Summary
He hadn’t prayed for anything in a very long time.
That was, until Viktor showed up.
As a recovering addict forced into rehab sessions at his old church, Jayce never expected to meet someone like Viktor. When they're forced into studying scripture together, they quickly learn just how similar they are, swapping scathing comments about God and the feeling of being left behind in a world that demands they heal, despite no longer wanting to. Mutual obsession quickly blooms between them as they share in each other's misery and their lack of hope for the future. He was on the Board for many of them, and his opinion and support could make or break a corporation.
It was also well known that while Jakub was married to a woman he considered the love of his life, the two were unable to have children. Their peers would express their condolences, but Jakub would move the conversation swiftly on to subjects other than children.
