When Tom woke up he found himself in a white sterile room with a glass wall that looked out into a hallway, there was also a door that was held closed by several deadbolts which were also padlocked shut, outside the room were people dressed in hazmat suits with gas masks talking with one another about something but he couldn’t make out what it was.
Tom rubbed his head trying to remember how he even got here but all he could remember was running out of the apartment and around the corner before hiding in an alleyway
Tom then noticed he had bruises and small cuts all over his body as well as a bandage wrapped around his waist covering a large jagged cut on his side. -

Tord travels back in time and gets to experience his childhood, this time with new eyes.
Mostly interactions between Tom and Tord and them caring for each other in their own special way. Could be read romantically, but in my eyes, it's more of an older & younger sibling dynamic.
(Also a lot of it is just Tord having a really bad time. Time travel can really mess you up if you have a traumatic past and future.)
(Edit: it's mostly Tord having a bad time but there's plot now)

“There are finger marks on your neck,” He pointed.
That bastard. He left marks.Tom cleared his throat and looked the other way. “You shouldn’t worry about it. Regroup with the other squads and see if they’ve found anything of use.” The other officer nodded and left Barnes & Nobles, leaving Tom alone in the messy store.
He winced as he touched the finger marks, realizing just how strong his opponent is; well, more like was. The Red Leader - no, Tord - could most likely break a metal water bottle with his bare hands if he tried.
If he had studied in making his grip stronger rather than training with a gun, who knows how powerful he could have been? Tom shuddered and pushed the thought away. That didn’t matter at the moment.
At that moment, the only thing that mattered was the interrogation.
