Until spirit guides urge Fire Prince Zuko to open his own and prevent a tragedy to come. His awakening conscience guides Zuko on a new path along the Avatar. But is it worth it? Or did it only give him so much more to lose?
As it turns out, his guides are not the only ones with their own agenda in the spirit world. And the other travellers would like nothing more than see him fail.______
Since the question has come up so often in the comments, yes, Aang is exactly as he is supposed to be and the reason is not Aang-bashing. Also, there is no definite chapter count because I like the freedom to let the characters explore their challenges and they always take longer than I thought. The plot in itself is set. -

Mai loves Zuko and will always fight for him even when he doesn't want her to, especially when he won't fight for himself. Mai plans to kill Ozai, she doesn't know how, when or if she can she just knows she needs to kill the bastard that hurt Zuko, maybe even punch Azula for extra measure because she's being a bitch.
Zuko loves Mai, he will live for her when he couldn't live for himself he lived for her, to see her. He just wished she'd stop being so over-protective and let them fight together.

On the night of her granddaughter’s third birthday the childe walks into a raging blizzard lured by the call of the spirits, she like all the others is never to be seen again while the village slept none the wiser to Katara’s fate, the search ends within the next new moon the tribe knows that no lost childe could’ve survived that blizzard, soon Kanna starts hearing far away rumors whispered by the sea herself regarding a Painted Lady healing people with genuine care no matter which nation they hail from
Yet It is the stories they don’t need to hear that become more then simply rumors made legends, events only meant to be witnessed first hand as the world changes, then eventually the Avatar who is apparently a 12 year old boy returns, Sokka found him in a iceberg while hunting.

Five years ago Zuko had gone to bed on the second anniversary of his banishment, that night he woke up drowning at sea only to be saved by a bunch of weird pirates with a crazy shirtless firebending captain, a few weeks later they managed to turn the prince into a pirate. After many adventures and tragedies, the feared Firefang finally died on the shores of Laugh Tale paying back his debt to his old captain.
But instead of dying he woke up back on his world a few years into the past, a man who has tasted the freedom of the sea can't go back to serving under a crazy lord so it was time for the elemental nations to lose a prince and gain a pirate.
It was his turn to get a new crew to turn the world upside down.

Zuko and Azula never fall for the rivalry their parents seem set on and grow up closer than they are told they should be, loving each other the only way they know how. Fully willing to burn and be burned for their other half. They make a good team, until Zuko is burned and banished and Azula is alone, outraged (scared), in the weasel-snake den. With her careful instructions, Zuko is able to be presumed missing on his quest for the Avatar and begin his life as a pirate, wrecking havoc on all sides of the war.
Azula's brother refuses to rule ashes by her side and she refuses to let anyone besides herself upset him this much, so the war must end. Her spies spread the rumor that he lives and the Fire people hold out hope for their beloved prince and saving grace. Zuko becomes the captain of 青い炎, or Aoi Honō, Blue Spirit, and Phoenix Prince while Azula becomes the monster that everyone fears. As Zuko is joining and teaching the Avatar, Azula is manipulating her way through conniving nobles and convincing her father the weapon he raised isn't a threat to him. After all, when has a monster of a daughter and a useless son ever overthrown their Fire Lord?
