Summary
Basically this is Cherik getting back together after the infamous beach divorce, rather unwillingly by the kids. Charles discovers a sickness spreading throughout mutantkind, and must turn to his enemy.
Of course that’s not what happens at first, because neither of them are emotionally competent enough. They both are building their new lives, and failing to recover from losing the other.

Erik met his gaze for a long moment, eyes rimmed red and glassy, as if he hadn't slept since Cuba. Since he left Charles bleeding on a distant shore, their newly formed family fractured.
"I have no other haven," Erik said, voice hoarse, stripped of its former steel. He clutched his hat tightly, fingers trembling. "I thought I did, but that belief was nothing but a cruel illusion."
