He calmly ordered his coffee, as if it was the most natural thing in the world and he hadn’t just kissed his racing rival and friend like he was his devoted breakfast making spouse in front of a room full of even more racing rivals and friends.
Lightning was at a loss as he looked at him in a sort of horrified stupor, silence having fallen on the rest of the table around them. He could feel the stares even without looking at the others. He heard a muffled snort and a hushed half-laugh from the other side of the table, but didn’t turn around.

Summary
Francesco has never liked Spaniards. He thought they were selfish, stupid, and stealing all that Italians have accomplished. His sense of pride in his country sometimes overshadows his considerations for other people's feelings, especially that of Miguel Camino, his Spanish competitor in the WGP.
He doesn't know why Miguel was so hurt by his words. He also doesn't know Miguel's haunted past and haunted present -- filled with tragedies about to begin.
Throughout these tragedies, Francesco falls in love with the Spaniard, afraid to tell him or his crew chief.
He'll finally come out when Miguel does the unthinkable.
Together, they set fire to the rain. -
