Summary
Just before the 2006 Piston Cup season, while Lightning McQueen is comfortable and at rest in Radiator Springs, breaking news of a new driver joining the season shakes the scene. Rusteze announces that their 'one' driver lineup has become a 'two' driver lineup. Mayhem and public uproar over the driver announcement hit the media in a new craze. Everyone seems to be talking about this new driver, but what about McQueen?
Once word reaches him of who his new teammate will be, a rush of anxiety and horror hits, but why?
Who is this driver, and why does McQueen seem to care so much?

This is an alternate version of what could have occurred in Cars 3 if Lightning had reacted differently to Storm. In the actual film, he makes peace with the fact that it's simply the age of the next-gen racers, coaches Cruz, and becomes a mature mentor.
However, what if he never matured?
What if he became bitter the officials allowed Storm to compete with him despite Storm being a newer, different design to him?
What if, instead of moving past his anger, he allowed it to stew, and started plotting revenge?
What if he went to an extreme and took advantage of the lax Piston Cup regulations to finally have the #95 beat Storm?
What if he was willing to compromise the safety and the integrity of the Cup just to prove a point?

"Hey Doc, you might want to come down to the station," Sheriff suggests to him over his clinic's phone.
"There's some suits here asking for you specifically, said they dropped by your house.”
"What do you mean people with suits are looking for me? Why would they need me? You're the Sheriff." Carefully pulling the next looping stitch through the small laceration on the little boy's arm.
"Yeah.. well they have some official looking files with them, so I would hurry up what you're doing and get here before they sniff you out at your clinic.”
Finishing another stitch, he grumbled, "Give me ten minutes and I'll be there, just stall them Mike. You're good at that."
Mater's green eyes lit up as he ripped the ruby red lollipop out of Doc’s hand.

“Finn, I want you to meet Doc Hudson, otherwise known as the Hudson Hornet,” Mater announced loud and clear, his voice reverberating from the walls. Excitement and anticipation could be heard.
Finn looked at the man in front of him. He was taller, definitely older. The years plastered onto his face. His hair was silver-blue. Navy eyes were trustworthy and patient. Finn, the ever-good agent, thrust his hand out for him to shake. “Finn McMissile. British Intelligence.”
Hudson gave him a weary smile. It wasn’t welcoming, but it wasn’t unkind either. Finn understood why he didn’t shake his hand. “You can call me Doc. There’s no such thing as formality here in this town so you better get used to it.”
