Summary
Pete Mitchell has always dreamt about flying – graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy was only the beginning. Flying brought him joy, with Goose by his side even more so. Flying was what he was good at. And even though he still pissed off his commanding officers more often than not, poor Stinger really, no one denied his talent. Flying is, he thought, what he will always do.

Ryusei grins, and he pulls out his gun at the same time as the caped one pulls out theirs.
Their guns against each other’s foreheads, they lock eyes.
The caped one pulls off their hood—pink hair?! No wonder they needed to cover it up—ah, a man. A pretty one at that.
The seconds tick down; Ryusei estimates twelve left.
“You’re not security?”

Chan’s lungs burned as he drew in a breath, his mind immediately more awake than it had been in the past 7 hours. There was a knife under his pillow, and a gun stashed between the mattress and the side of the bed frame to his right. It should only take a split second to reach it, but the torn and restitched muscle confined in layers of bandage made his movements slow and uncoordinated. Through the flare of pain in his shoulder, he managed to fish the gun out from its hiding place and train it on the flowing curtains. The movement of the tulle looked surreal against the dark, as if some deep-sea creature beckoning prey towards its grasping tendrils.
And there, amidst the pearlescent white, stood the lure of a man.
“You could’ve just picked the lock like a normal person.”
