Summary
Before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim start, Nalani and Taylani are seen moseying about in their respective areas. Taylani is found toying away in the Thalmor Embassy, wanting to explore the province. First Emissary Elenwen decides to give her a chance to leave the Embassy on her own to start her first mission to root out Talos worshipers. It’s Sundas afternoon at the beginning of the story, and Taylani is bored and needing something to do. She bothers the various guards, Brelas, Malborn, Razelan, both bards Illdi and Grete, and the cook Tsavani before Rulindil intervenes on everyone’s behalf to walk her down to the Solar to speak to Elenwen. She’s concerned that she’s in trouble now, considering her last mishap that left Elenwen furious for weeks. She’s surprised that, finally, Elenwen wants to get rid of her and send her off on her own for a few days for a simple mission. She’s to be sent to the far reaches of Skyrim to infiltrate a Talos-worshipping den. Taylani is excited and begins to rush out of Elenwen’s office before being scolded. She prepares that night for her journey ahead.

He shouldn’t be dreading this- he shouldn’t have had a twisting feeling in his gut when he left the hotel for the final time, walking to Tatzersahls after some deliberation to place a note in Astrid and Eadwulf's mailbox. Gods, it broke his heart that he could not say goodbye in person.
It had been nice, while it lasted. The tightness in his throat was of no use to the Thalmor, nor were the tears that had threatened all morning to form in his eyes.

Niriya, a mysterious immigrant from the Summerset Isles, had traversed Tamriel in a quest to find herself, and abandon the life she had once known. Yet, coming to Skyrim proved to be more than she had bargained for.
Margaret Atwood's 'The Penelopiad' as well as the Greek Mythology character of Penelope highly influenced the course of this fic as well as the character of Niriya herself. Both reading about the complacent wife that was Penelope in "Homer's Odyssey", as well as her more expanded, emotionally complex, and somewhat unreliable/selfish character in "The Penelopiad" made me want to explore the character of Penelope intertextually as well. Rather, a version of Penelope who didn't like the taste of waiting.
Of course, this is all interloped within the Canon story of Skyrim. The beautiful and incredible character of Taliesin belongs to Dynamite124 and Pat Mahoney respectively :)

Ailith is terrified and appalled that he can confess to hideous crimes knowing he'll be unpunished. With the loving support of her parents, Ailith begins her journey to find power and enough of it to finally get Thrice-Banished put behind bars for good.
As well as her parents, Ailith quickly forms bonds within the Fighter's Guild and with the mysterious Khajiit, Theranni. He is equally drawn to Ailith and pledges to help her hunt down the evasive bandit. With him fighting by her side, Ailith feels invincible. But is she?
Inspired by characters created in the Skyrim Romance Mod and Beyond Skyrim: Bruma. This is the story of my Dragonborn before she faces Alduin and meets Bishop. For any fans of the SRM and of Bishop, it's a while before he has any role in Ailith's story.
