“As I was saying,” Ian continued his earlier thought as he made quick work of his pants and the rest of his clothes. Mickey got the memo and did the same, only slowed a little by the uneven surface under him. He grumbled to himself when Ian was already crawling onto the bed as he pulled off his socks. Less time to look at him, standing broad and naked. “You’re scared and you don’t want to choose. I got you.”
Mickey scooted back, just as Ian lunged. He was expecting it, and they raised Mickey’s hands above his head as a unit. Ian gripped his wrists loosely in one wrist as he leaned down for another kiss. “You’re saying you want me to choose for you.”

Them, on a Thursday morning at Walgreens, the day Mickey comes with his husband to pick up the pills from the new prescription his shrink gave him barely thirty minutes ago.

The pharmacist’s voice is cheerful. She uses his first name, like they do at Starbucks.
He confirms his name and date of birth distractedly. When he lays the letterhead paper on the counter, he re-read the words written on it. He knows them by heart, without hating them.
"Extended-release medication."
It means one dose a day instead of three for the same effect."
