Hello!
In honor of Underverse 0.8 part 1 coming out and Jakei’s year and a half hiatus, I am going to (try to) do this thing I will be calling “Weekly Underverse” where I update weekly with some sort of Underverse related content.
It’s not going to be anything big. Some weeks it will be a 3,000 word Cross fic, maybe a digital drawing I worked on for 5 hours. Other weeks might be as small as a snippet of a poem that was inspired by an Underverse thing, or a little doodle I did in my notes packet. It may even be recycled content I have posted outside of this project.
But whatever it is, I will try to update it weekly until the hiatus is over.
Weekly Underverse starts today, November 20, 2024. Updates will (try to) be every Wednesday.

Little note: I am nowhere near an Underverse expert, so most things might be fanon, most things might be Cross focused, but maybe I’ll do some learning and write with the other characters. Maybe I’ll give fun facts one week. We’ve got about 78 chances so… we’ll see where this goes!

The Multiversity- a college run by Core Frisk and their Omega Timeline Council. It welcomes students from across the multiverse, no matter their backgrounds. While there are always some challenging students, this year boasts an exceptionally wide assortment of unique faces. Many of whom are neither thrilled to be there, nor fans of their administrators.
In other words: A college AU featuring all your favorite Sanses. True stories from wild college experiences sprinkled in with general chaos and disaster as skeletons from various backgrounds are shoved together in a classroom setting and given way too much freedom.

It's fine that he hates them. It's fine that he won't talk to them unless they've enraged him into threatening and insulting them, that he won't touch them except to bite and stab.
He's focused on Ink. After a long day of doing- being- nothing, that attention is exactly what they want.
They've heard of others who say pain reminds them they're alive. Ink can't feel that. But that just means they can take as much of Error's attention as he'll give them.
[Set in the same multiverse as the rest of this series, but can be read as a standalone fic or in any order.
Context: Ink and Dream are a team for only strategic reasons, because they both think they're only good for protecting AUs and not being real people or having real friends. But that's not true and they're actually both desperate for affection.
This fic is set very early in their alliance, so they don't know this yet and Ink thinks Dream is genuinely just ignoring him because they've agreed they don't have to worry about each other.
Since Ink can't go to Dream for attention, he seeks it from his nemesis Error instead, just like he always has.]Series

Today was a good day-- he spent it comfortably curled up in blankets and pillows, reading works of fiction from various AUs and making pixel art of a few of his own characters. They were happy. They should still be happy.
But inexplicably, near the end of the day, they just felt sad.
They craved a little more blue, to truly feel their sadness instead of the muted, empty feeling they started with.But they're kind of regretting it now.

Summary
Ink isn't a real person. They can't love people-- only characters. They only need to love characters to protect the multiverse. That's their purpose, they don't need anything else. They weren't made to have friends.
Dream is the Guardian of Positivity. He can't feel negative emotions-- making him a perfect, tireless Guardian. He doesn't need rest, he doesn't need friendship or comfort. Helping the people of the multiverse makes them happy, which makes Dream happy. He doesn't need anything else, either.
At least, this is what they both believed, until Ink teleported to their shared base, and found Dream curled up on the floor of a rarely-used bedroom, uncontrollably sobbing.

Ink desperately wants a soulmark. He wishes he had that little sign of existence, a tiny mark on your chest to signal that there was someone out there who would impact you so much it went soul-deep. But no soulless being has ever had a mark across the entire multiverse, much like how no one with a soul has ever managed to lose theirs. He doesn't care. There's no point in not trying, right?
Or:
After a close call with Dream almost discovering Ink's lack of a mark, and by extension his soullessness, Ink decides to give himself a soulmark. It doesn't go well.
