Summary
Sunny moved out of Faraway without connecting back with any of his friends. Around two years later, he begins to hallucinate again.
Sunny is actually doing a lot better now, and thanks to his mom he has a therapist and is finishing high school online. Then, Sunny’s mom surprises him with a trip to Faraway, the place where both of them were tattered and broken.
Once Sunny returns to Faraway, near-hourly hallucinations turn into him becoming fully immersed in his dream world again, unaware of the things happening outside of his head. A certain someone is taking over while he’s dreaming, and he has no memories of what happened when he was gone.
That’s a problem. With Sunny getting pulled back into the past, all he wants is Mari. He hasn’t remembered the truth yet, and believes she’s at college, and will be coming back soon. How wrong he is. Constant reminders of his times with his friends when he was young begin triggering panic attacks, where he begs for Mari until getting sucked back into Headspace.
Sunny is sharing his body with someone who once wanted him dead. Now this someone is tired of their job, and is trying to make Sunny remember the things they helped him forget.

Sunny's father had always been harsh. Murdering his sister, however, was not something Sunny had ever expected the man would do. Guilt-ridden by a crime he didn't commit, Sunny isolates himself for four years until he is suddenly shoved back into human interaction, his friends refusing to leave him alone now that they've seen his poor mental and physical health.
Trapped by his friends' care and his father's actions, Sunny must navigate the world's cruelty and his own mental state.

(In this AU, Sunny's father murders Mari in a drunken rage. Basil, as well as everyone else aside from Sunny, is unaware of this. They instead think an accident occurred involving Mari and the stairs. )

Sunny knew that after he gets to leave the hospital, he would move away from Faraway Town for good, but perhaps be able to go back and visit and meet his friends… right?
That was until a good friend of his mom gave some rather “Interesting” news to him, on that Sunny and her were infact going to a Japanese town known as Hinata… specifically to an all-girls dormitory as his mom picked up a well-paying job as a cleaner there.
With the knowledge that visiting Faraway again becomes a great unlikelihood, join Sunny as he both recovers from his trauma and adapts to his new life in Japan, befriending and joining in on the hijinks of some of the residents… while also possibly reconnecting with his friends, inspite of how “Faraway” he is from them.

Sunny didn't mean to leave Mama, he just wanted to go outside just once, to feel the warmth of the sun he hadn't felt for a while (3 and half years).
Mama was his everything, he would never think of leaving her! (not after she punished him several times for being bad.)
He was a good boy! but good boys don't hurt their mamas, right? He had to be good, he was the only one she had left. (After all, he was the one who ruined it when he hurt mar-) He missed his friends, he hadn't played with anyone but Mama for years, and she only played when he was good...
Mama loved him, really she did! (Then, why did you have so many ouchies?) She just showed he love differently than other people.
Sunny had just meant to step out for a minute, then return back to the safety of his mother's embrace! (Is it as safe as you think it is?) But Omori and Reverie insisted he stays out just a little longer, surely he could trust his best friends, right? They had always kept him safe and sound.
Or, the same events as the cannon timeline leading up to Mari's death, and diverges after Sunny shut himself in his house, this happens 3, and a half years of his hermit arc, when he just wanted a breath of fresh air briefly. -
