'Sacred Arrow' is a third novel in my anthro cycle and was written in Russian between 2021–2025. If you like anthro lions and lionesses, or felines in general, maybe it's for you. Everything happens in a world resembling the late Roman Empire mixed with the Middle Ages, with tiny elements of Enlightenment. My cycle centers on the Ashai-Keetrah, a mystical order of priestesses in the Suung Empire. ‘Sacred Arrow’ specifically follows the Messengers—rare lionesses within the Ashai-Keetrah who practice the Craft: transmitting Messages through dreams across any distance.
Mauna, a young patrician lioness and Messenger acolyte, has spent years training in the sacred Craft but struggles with its most essential skill: Messaging. Despite her noble lineage and dedication, she cannot master the dreamwalking techniques that would elevate her to full Messenger status. Her mentors have grown frustrated, and whispers suggest she's destined to become a Pre-Messenger—a support role that would mark her as a failure.
As a last resort (or perhaps as abandonment), Mauna is sent for "praxis" with Vaalu-Amaya, an eccentric Messenger living in the Empire's remote northwestern corner.
