Summary
Herakles Black was a mistake born from two drunken new graduates—Lily Evans and Sirius Black. Kept secret from one and unwanted by the other, he was left on the Dursleys’ doorstep with nothing but a single fragile hope: that he would be loved. That hope, however, never came true.
Instead of the happy childhood his mother had wished for him, Herakles grew up in a cupboard beneath the stairs, treated as little more than a servant. He clung to dreams of freedom, telling himself he only had to endure until he turned eighteen. That dream, along with the books he devoured at the library, were the only things holding him together.
But freedom came sooner than expected. At the age of nine, his father found him—and brought him home.
