In a radiation-ravaged wasteland, the synth V-7 emerges from a broken past and finds herself thrust into a hostile present. Driven by a fierce survival instinct and accompanied by the Watchers, whose connections she gradually discovers, she wanders through the ruins; hunted, but also drawn, by forces beyond her control.
Between bloody battles, ambiguous encounters, and decisions that gradually shape her humanity, she goes beyond the simple idea of survival : she becomes something, someone.
The question remains: what, and at what cost ? Is she really guided by her choices or by what has been programmed into her, hidden deep within ?(Started right after my Fallout 3 play, with my character that I called "my NPC" XD -it seems like so many lifetimes ago-... Between different versions, more than 200 pages in the "to finish" folder, here's what's come out of it, so far...)

Staggering toward the counter, Charon's towering frame cast a shadow over Blaire.
“I still own your contract – I am still your employer.” Ahzrukhal sneered, but his jittery hands shook with anticipation of the promised Med-X. “I order you to protect Blaire with your life. Follow her until your mission ends. You return to me the moment she arrives safely at her destination.”
Charon choked.
“As you wish.”
Looking down at the candy-floss of her hair, he felt his gut clench.

**Twist on Charon's contract. Blaire does not acquire Charon's company the traditional way, but rather through a loophole. Because of this, Charon is obligated to honor his employer's deal and ensure Blaire arrives at her chosen destination. Along the way, Charon begins to remember what it feels like to make his own decisions; what it feels like to be free. He even begins to remember how intoxicating the feeling of trust is.
But Ahzrukhal had made one fatal error: he never asked her what her destination was.

Charon finds himself working under an employer who’s his oddest one to date, and his first female employer he’s ever worked for. But this new mistress is far from a damsel in distress, she’s young, confident, cunning and all around ‘bad arse’. “And not in a bad korma way.” He can’t get his head around the fact that she is far from incapable of defending herself against whatever the wasteland throws at them. But his unwillingness and stubbornness to accept that finds himself wanting to believe she’s too naive. She on the other hand, enjoys his company as much as a dark and brooding man can be. But she struggles with his obsessive need to keep her protected from the horrors of this world, which eventually leads to a fight. Their relationship does blossom in intimate ways but she’s not used to someone else watching her back. But as much to Charon’s begrudgingness of not wanting to get physical with her, and he may be a ghoul, but his still a man. His past 10 years of celibacy is practically killing him to the core and much to his dismay, he allows himself one more night of passion.

This is an extremely slow burn, probably extremely long, emphasis on feels over explicit content, borderline novelisation of my LW's story, complete with side quests and embellished NPCs abound. Shilo is an opiate addict with ADHD and Charon is... well, let's find out, shall we? :)

___She comes into the world as the rest- screaming, bloody, and with each passing second, becoming less and less human as the radiation of the new world sticks to her coated skin. She cries, not because her mother begins hemorrhaging, or her last words are her name, and then her father's, but because that is all she knows how to do. It is a sick, twisted preparation for the life to come.

I have been going months between updating and I don't think it fair to new readers to get so invested in something that isn't complete, so I just felt it better to let everyone know. My lips thin with frustration and I jerk my arm away. “That is not how it works.” You would think that, after 200 years, she would know that.

Charon's good at making quick decisions. The kid is clearly underaged. Too much hair gel swept up into his hair that it looks crunchy, too much cologne assaulting his deadened sense of smell. Already drunk.
Even if he wasn’t standing in front of him, Charon would have known. The ID is a fake, like nearly every other person's in the line. It's his face in the picture, for sure, but there's no chance this baby face outlined in the popped up leather collar standing before him is 23. It's too clean for being anything other than an ID taken out at bars and liquor stores, for one. And the colors themselves are all wrong. Too bright and just a shade off.
"Butch DeLoria?"
"December 27th, 1993." The kid rattles off automatically, even in his state of intoxication. He grins like he's really pulling the wool over his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest, clearly prideful over knowing the fake date on his fake New Hampshire driver's license. Charon frowns.
(A Modern!College AU where ghouls are still ghouls and there are aspects of pre-Great War Fallout mixed in.)
