His daughter cried out for him, he could see her being dragged back by Diansu. His greatest regret was having Lux watch his demise. At least Diansu and Will would be there for her.
As the heat became excruciating and boiled his blood, he began to laugh. It was manic and pained. This really wasn’t where he expected to be taken out. He thought he would at least get a few more decades.

Derapchu crouched slightly to lift up the tray of food on his hand, over his shoulder. It teetered a tad, but he steadied it with his other hand and sent a prayer that he wouldn't hit someone on his way out of the kitchen and drop all of the food.
The metal tray warmed his fingers as he continued his usual routine, his usual route out to the Hemlocks' dining table; leaving the busy kitchen behind.
For the past few weeks, he'd caught Zam, one of the middle children of the Hemlock family, stealing glances and staring at him from his place at the table.
At him. At Derap. This was beyond bizzare, extremely weird. Derap was nothing special, he didn't do much and surely wasn't as noticeable as many others. He was a simple butler, he was nothing special. And thats how he liked it. He didn't mind it, this job gave him free food, free shelter and a place to sleep.
Whatever, he just hoped Zam wasn't at the table today.
