The Avegers take the side of Loki over Thor's.
They put themself in harm way to save an innocent. At least some real heroics here.Best parts:
“He’s your brother, for fuck’s sake,” Romanoff chimes in.
“Stop it,” Loki says, his voice frilly but decisive and Tony finally turns to him. He’s standing with his back to the wall, leaning on it heavily – it doesn’t look like his wobbly legs can hold his weight all that well. The thin gown he’s wearing reaches only a bit above his knees, revealing the deep, half-healed gashes on his shins and the scars around his ankles that are too easy to guess the origin of.
He tugs the tube free, pushes himself off the wall with a visible effort, and shuffles forward, his every step as unsteady as it is full of resolve. He walks around the group and stands in front of Thor. “There’s no need for more bloodshed. I’ll go with you,” he says and brings up his hands.
The red mark the shackle left on his skin has faded, but Tony can still see it.
“No,” he says sternly. “Don’t do this, Loki. We were just starting to sort it out!”“You brought Asgard’s rage upon yourselves,” Loki says, his voice strained. “And for what? For one measly prisoner who’s dead already?”
“We’ll see about that. And hell, if it ain’t worth it.”One of the best description of Loki and something that so many dismiss or misintepreter : the quiet pride.
Not arrogance, pride. And not a 'diva' outstandish pride. The one that makes him silently walk in chains in his own house, treated like a (beast) prisoner by his own family and still held his head high.
Loki in three words.I don't like:
The numerous insults against Loki, that have no reason to exist since are not consistent with canon.
The fact that the avengers should see the torture to begin asking themself some questions. A magic scepter when they know nothing of magic, a possible a lot more complicated (universe) alien politics with more factions involved, the fact that someone spits out of a portal after being in an unknown location can be allucinate and not in his right mind (the entire invasion last three days! Not exactly a convalescence time, expecially without help and an hospital), are not enough to makes at least an investigation before sending someone to be executed.
And they damn know that he wasn't in a normal state of mind! But ignore it! (“He seems so… normal,” Steve says and Tony knows exactly what he’s talking about. In comparison to how Loki was acting a few days ago, this makes for like a total one-eighty.“I know, right? Who would have thought that getting smashed by Hulk can work as therapy?”)
Pushing a victim to "collaborate" before considering him a real victim. What if Loki wasn't able for his mental state to collaborate and give informations, or if he was even violent? Then he wasn't a victim anymore? What if "give informations" sents him in a suicidal attemp? Do these people hear about spycology? -

A good Fandral, and semi good W4, are always strange to see. I don't know if I liked it.
A lot better the first half than the second (it starts when there are the OOC characters) - maybe reread only that.

Fantastic author.
I would stay away from those with the tag dark, because I don’t want to ruin one of the few sane authors of this fandom. And away from all the ones written after Ragnarok, too.
(scratch that, only the ones bookmarked can be read).
Big and Small can be read, but it's useless since each and every character is ooc.
Spinning the wheel, in silence with you and puppet master are all readable without trauma, with a redemption arch for Thor and good avengers.
Magnificent tag 'avengers are true heroes' that exemplifies the fundamental problem of many stories and it is a shame it is not used more (if used on point, of course!).
Sometimes the tag 'avengers are good bro' is used instead, which is more generic.
And the tag 'Loki was not at fault' is another treasure. -

This is everthing I wanted for a fic where Loki ended in Jotunheim. Although I stop reading when the W4 are justify because they are young (by Loki!), as if Loli isn't the youngets. And Thor is consoled (by Loki!) for trying to kill his brother, obviously without reason as always, and everyone else is pissed at him. Instead of Thor growing up and taking responsability there is a disgusting scene where Loki comforts his wannabe murder (this makes the pair with a fanfic where Loki apologise to Heimdall who had tried to murder him in cold blood cutting off his head just cause he didn't like him, in Thor 1). Really, canon Loki is a saint, but these fanfics push it too much!
