Three flutes of too sweet wine later Tadashi is irritated by three distinct matters. First, it’s the fourth times someone addresses him as if he were a butler, and the second time only he turns the person down. Second, for someone who supposedly wanted to show his pet around, Ainosuke sure leaves him alone and far from his sight. Tadashi naively thought his leash was shorter than that.
Finally, there is no foie gras left. Tadashi looked around every room and the trails are all empty. There are only petit fours and avocado-mango-lobster salads in ridiculously tiny verrines that are too small for their spoon to fit in. This is unacceptable. Definitely not worthy of Ainosuke sama’s birthday. If only Tadashi could find that communication VP, he’d tell him how AInosuke likes his receptions to be.
Ainosuke comes back just in time to hear his complaints. Oddly, he only speaks about the foie gras, which seems to make AInosuke laugh with merry - that’s how he knows he is not the only one who had one cup too many. But, oh well, he’s the birthday boy, he’s allowed to.
“I know where they keep more.” He whispers in his ear, and Tadashi shivers with anticipation - he salivates too. “It’s in the scullery. Come.”

*Roche finds a half-dead Iorveth in the forest and nurses him back to health, rekindling something between them in the process.
