Summary
Two summers ago, I wrote the book I always wanted to read: a canon-compliant Marauders era Harry Potter series. I dedicated it to my daughter, who declared it to be "just like Harry Potter, but funnier!" I wrote it because I loved the Byronic hero of Sirius Black, made ever more complex the more we learn about him, his family, and his friendships.
"Sirius Black and the Imperial Scroll" follows the Marauders' first year from the perspective of Sirius Black, who defied his family by choosing Gryffindor. This story of redemption grapples with fate versus free will, whether grace comes before reformation, the pull of the darkness on the mind of a young boy called to be good, and the power of "soul friendship."
I hope you enjoy this little work and consider following along. My quiet hope is that if you enjoy it, you will share it with a friend or two, to allow the life of the work to take root in others.

Summary
He was breathing heavily once again, the storm of emotion residing within his chest still fighting to break free. But he couldn’t, wouldn’t give in, even though it took every last scrap of his self-control not to do so after hearing Sirius’ tender words giving him permission to break down if he so needed. So he pushed the tears back and opted to bury his face in his godfather’s shoulder instead as the pressure in his throat and chest continued to rise.

Summary
Harry had lost track of how many times his godfather had directed this question at him over the last few months, always honestly asking but never prying. Hoping that Harry would open up to him but also giving him an easy out as if not to trap him in a conversation he wanted no part in.
And every time, Harry would have the same answer. Not the one he wanted to give deep down, but the only one that he felt he had.
