Mike Wheeler did not rage. He did not seethe. And especially not with jealousy. He rarely even raised his voice. And he knew that violence was never the answer to any of his problems. But as he glared at the smug face of this tall (but not taller than him) bastard that thinks he could even look at Will, let alone talk to him, he thinks that maybe — just maybe — sometimes, violence is the answer.

Mike prides himself in being a good, respectful Alpha; notably different from the rest of his age. He’s protective, without being overbearing. He’s never aggressive or controlling. He rarely gets angry, and he certainly never resorts to violence. But that changes when he spots Will across the room, a random guy flirting with him.

"He’s not actually sick, not exactly.” Joyce's voice is steady, but her clear stress shows, “He presented, Mike.”
She gives him a comforting smile as he blinks. Just blinks, unable to do much else. He doesn’t notice his throat is dry until he speaks and it comes out quiet, crackly. “What?”
“He went into his first heat overnight. I really should have seen the signs, it’s just so uncommon at sixteen. I wasn’t even thinking of it.”
Something's up with Will. Their friends say Mike is crazy, but if anyone knows Will, it's Mike. When Will presents as an omega two years earlier than most people should, Mike can't even gloat about being right, because he's suddenly being sent into overdrive at Will's newfound distress at the situation. But Mike will make it right, he'll keep him safe. That's his job, and he takes pride in it.

Will is pregnant.
He’s sixteen and in eleventh grade, and this is not something that’s supposed to happen to him. He still worries about school and tests and getting through the day without anyone staring too long. Being an omega already feels like enough. This just makes everything worse.
It’s Mike’s.
That part scares him the most. Mike is his best friend, his alpha, and the person he trusts more than anyone. Will doesn’t know how to tell him, or how to tell anyone at all.
Will is four months pregnant, and there’s no hiding it from himself anymore.
