Mike gaps in response. “That’s not true!”
“Oh yeah?” Will’s brow arches, his head tilting Mike’s way. “Name one.”
“I liked …” Mike fumbles for words, brows furrowing once more. Will watches him for a moment before his own brows are pulling down in confusion the longer Mike seems to struggle.
“... I can’t tell if you can’t pick one or can’t remember their names.”
“I–” Mike’s reply is quick and defensive, his mouth opening and closing as his hands tighten around the steering wheel before he’s turning to Will to counter, “Have you ever thought that you maybe just have bad taste?”
Will’s brows shoot up in response. “Oh, so now this is my fault?”
Mike’s nod is sharp and quick, his shoulders rising and falling in a shrug that’s near aggressive. “Yeah, kinda.”

Mike chuckles at this and Will grins at the sound as he tosses his leg over his bike. El gives him a look that says, ‘Let’s go already’. “I mean if I could make art like you I think I’d have my whole room decorated,” Mike adds. “I mean I could like design my own characters and everything.”
Will is about to pull off when he says, “I could teach you, it’d be cool to have new stuff for the campaigns,” almost absentmindedly, not even really thinking about what he’s saying. “But I’m not sure how good a teacher I’d be.”
“Really, you’d do that?” Mike says, whipping his head up to look directly at Will.
“I- yeah, yeah, for sure. Why not? I don’t really have much else to do,” Will says, only just now realizing what he offered.
“Oh sure, but only since you have absolutely nothing better to do.”
OR
Will offers to give Mike art lessons as they enter their junior year of high school. Mike gladly accepts. Homosexual chaos ensues.

“You guys have gotten really close.” Mike tells her, trying to make conversation but unable to really hold a steady tone. Instead it comes off condescending. “Will’s allowed to have more than one friend, you know?” Robin replies, and Mike cannot believe her right now. Seriously, she comes in here out of nowhere and thinks she knows Will better than Mike? “I never said he couldn’t.” Mike shoots back. “Plus, are you guys seriously just friends?” Mike says, his eyes narrowing. And again, Robin's eyebrows shoot up. “Very much so, just friends. Like, the emphasis on very is almost comical-” Robin laughs nervously and quickly shuts herself up. “But, why would it matter so much?” Robin continues, a different look in her eye. “It doesn’t matter.” Mike says. “I was just asking.” Any and all forms of tears that might’ve been on Mike’s face are gone now, because he's strictly just annoyed. “Look, I promise you we’re just friends. Sometimes… you just need someone to go to for other things. He’s still your best friend, Wheeler.”

“Wow,” Lucas says, nodding like he’s processing the information he’s been handed.
“Ohhh,” Dustin says, putting puzzle pieces together in his mind. “So you’re gay too?” He asks the question so casually that Mike can’t even register it for a second or two after the fact.
But Mike isn’t gay. No, definitely not. Mike knows this, he’s always known this. He probably just likes kissing. Yeah. And sure, kissing El wasn’t as enjoyable as he’d thought, so maybe the person he just likes to kiss is Will. It—it doesn’t mean anything.
“What no I just…I think I just might want to kiss Will sometimes,” Mike says, albeit mumbling the last part…not sure why it’s sounding like anything other than the truth.
OR mike doesn’t know what to tell will when he asks him what he wants for Christmas. until Will accidentally kisses him, now the problem is telling him that.

“Well, can you think out loud?” Will gripes, sounding tense and unhappy even as he settles back against Mike’s chest. “You’re making me nervous.”
Mike laughs a little. “I’m not sure I should; I don’t want to freak you out.”
“Mike,” and Will sounds supremely unimpressed, “I just took control of three Demos, two of which were miles away, and proceeded to snap their limbs and kill them with my mind. Not only that, I just told you that I did it by drawing strength, in large part, from being your friend. You’re worried about freaking me out? Really?”
“Yeah, and I’m the guy who watched you do it and thought that it was the hottest thing I’d ever seen in my life, so what does that say about me?”
There’s a long, shocked silence.
“See, this is why I don’t think out loud,” Mike jokes weakly.

Mike falls a little bit more in love with Will because, at this point, who wouldn't? He just saved Mike's life, after all. Unfortunately, the others don't quite see it that way, and it's getting to Will a little bit. Mike intends to remedy that.
