Jake can’t quite place the voice and forces himself to open his eyes.
At first everything is blurry and bright and colored blobs, but after a few blinks he can see things coming into focus.
And the first thing he sees is a hell of a lot of blue people standing over him.
His confusion must be evident on his face, because the tallest one leans in closer to him. “You don’t remember us, sweetheart? Kinda hurts my feelings.”
Jake stares for a beat.
Then two.
“Colonel?” Jake finally says in absolute disbelief.

Jake settles himself down on the bench and when he looks up, his heart damn near stops because wow, now this was a great view of Quaritch.
The older man towered over him and Jake could see every plane of his abdomen from this angle.
Quaritch raises an eyebrow. “You have to grab the bar to start the set, corporal.”
Jake nods. “Yes, sir, sorry.”
Jake grabs the bar and starts his set, trying to think about anything but Quaritch or his other body undergoing surgery.
