Allura weakly returns the squeeze to Kima’s pinky, then pulls her hand away. “I know,” she says, with none of the conviction that normally accompanies it.
“You know,” the paladin replies, sounding equally defeated.
“Like you said,” Allura says, pushing herself to her feet, looking back toward Emon, “this is for the best.” Then, without another word, she walks away.
