Summary
Merlin had been given a choice.
Admitting the truth about what Morgause had said, admitting that Uther was indeed responsible for the Purge and Ygraine's death would have meant freedom for Merlin and for all those who had magic.
But Arthur would suffer.
Lying about the truth, lying about what Uther had done, once again covering the king from the consequences of his own actions… it would have spared Arthur the pain of losing another parent. It would save Uther, a man who had never had compassion for anything or anyone, once again.
It would make Arthur hate magic once and for all.
Make Arthur hate Merlin, the profound nature of what Merlin was, forever.

Zuko wanted to say yes. It was the obvious answer. Aang was the Avatar, Aang was the enemy. Aang was the one thing keeping him from returning home, from returning to his father’s good graces. He should hate Aang fiercely and openly, and he should have set that entire clearing on fire to get to him and capture him once and for all.
"No,” he said, and was surprised to find it was the truth.
OR What if Zuko and Aang talked at the end of "The Blue Spirit"?
Aang is not twelve. This IS a rewrite of the show, but it diverges more in the Book 3 chapters. Please read the notes before the prologue!

Summary
Arthur was just waiting for his manservant to crack, to show some measure of disloyalty but, besides the occasional grumbling and his inability to address Arthur with the proper title, he was…not a model servant because he was still crap, but he was just as good as he had always been.
Arthur wondered how long it would take his magic to corrupt him.or, in which Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic in his battle against Cornelius Sigan in s02e01 and has to come to terms with the fact that Merlin is a sorcerer.
