Summary
The conclusion Minho has come to after nights spent thinking of wavy brown hair when he spaces out during Jeongin’s kids shows, days spent with his eyes skimming the beach for a glimpse of honey skin, is that humans have an interest in the unknown.
Jisung is a new character in his day to day, the first in ages, ever since Hyeju got hired as a lifeguard. Jisung is pretty and he’s from the mainland but he seems to be setting up a life here, and Minho knows nothing about him besides his name. His brain has inexplicably latched onto a weaved story, a routine thing he and Hyunjin do, because humanity craves to learn more about the unknown.
The Jisung in his head is separate from the Jisung on the beach, though they look the same. A temporary annoyance, a psychological torment.
(OR: Minho, left to care for his younger brother after his parents death, works to make ends meet and doesn't have time for distractions. Jisung, a free-spirited and very distracting surfer, moves to town and turns Minho's world on it's head.)

Summary
He hums as he watches Ed once again drop the giant boulder of an ex-soldier into the dirt with a squelch. Ed is covered with the brown muck; it soils the golden shine of his braided hair and smears pale bronze of his sun-warm skin. It sticks the white button-up he wears close to his form. But the toothy grin the alchemist sends the prince’s way over his shoulder afterwards is still, somehow, pearly white.
Ling’s fingers dig into the scarlet red of Ed’s jacket.
“Wow,” Greed and Ling say at the same time, but for entirely different reasons.
Or, five times Ling held Ed’s proverbial flower while he threw himself headfirst into a fight, and one time Ed returned the favor.

wow. I have no words. This fic has changed me on a fundamental level, molded the very way I see not only the source material, but the world itself. This may be the best fic I have ever read. I want to thank you, Lantur, for having dedicated so much of your time and effort to tell this beautiful, heart wrenching story. Such a beautiful, tender, complex, profound story. It brings to our beloved side characters the depth we knew must be there, but could never explore completely.
when i think of fanfiction, this fic is the pinnacle of it: an addition, and elaboration, an aggregation to the source material. If I had to convince anyone to give the concept of fanfiction a chance with a single work, it would be this one that would undoubtedly do the trick.

Summary
Xerxes is in a golden age of scientific and alchemical advancement. Unhindered by major internal conflict like their neighbors, the desert civilization has prospered. Still, many of its mysteries have gone unsolved, including the baffling disappearance of the Elric brothers from the royal palace five years ago.
Ling doesn't know or care about that. He's more concerned with more important things, like his next meal, or obtaining immortality to save his clan. He wants nothing to do with abducted princes or alchemically created monsters.
Unfortunately, he doesn't get much choice in the matter.
