Summary
Lucifer's day started like many others, breakfast with his young daughter, Charlie, and his wife, Lilith. Something he had done countless times with his family. Though this time, something feels off, and it's not anything in the pancakes. Voices are echoing in his mind, things that make no sense. Why did his daughter sound so angry with him? Why couldn't he shake the feeling that she didn't want him around anymore? She was right here in front of him, a beaming six-year-old whose father was her whole world.
Lilith seems to know something he doesn't, but he can't pinpoint what. Something is wrong and Lucifer isn't quite sure he's ready to face the root of his troubles. Though as time goes on, he may have no choice.

Lucifer is absolutely ecstatic when Charlie offers to include a permanent set of quarters just for him in the blueprints for the brand new Hazbin Hotel. Getting to see his little girl for as many meals a day as he remembers to eat is great! Except sometimes that number of meals is exactly zero, and other times he sees her but doesn’t quite manage to follow the whole conversation, but—it’s all group hangouts full of chatter from her little friends around these parts anyways! He’s sure that it’s hardly noticeable! ...He really hopes that it’s hardly noticeable.
Or: Lucifer has a difficult, very normal day. He tries very hard anyway.

The way how Lucifer's dissociation is captured here is well written, it's really relatable as sometimes you get too focused on one thing and then you forget to listen to the whole. His desperation as well of trying to listen when he just really can't, and also the amount of times he's just agreeing to things without knowing the full context sure hits back home. Hmm- Makes me wanna research about ways to stop dissociating, makes me look like I'm drifting away from my friends when I'm just really lost in my thoughts. Decisions decisions indeed.
Anyways- Charlie, oh how I feel bad for Charlie. Most kids need approval to their parents, especially in making their dreams come true, and Charlie here is no different. Him being supportive along with sounding like he doesn't care sounds conflicting, makes her lashing out understandable. Imagine you told someone that you are going to kill their pet and their response is "Sure! Go ahead", that makes you question a lot. Are they listening and genuinely wants you to kill their pet or is that they don't care what you're doing. It's kind of like that or whatever you can get through that, shitty analogy indeed. Kind of like quantum mechanics, you don't know unless you look at it ..... Yeah uhm, ignore that.
Another thing is that I love how Angel tried to help him, he thinks he's taking some drugs -he has experience so makes sense- and not okay so he instantly help him get back to the present by holding his shoulders. Such a kind gesture of him. The duologues are yummy, it's written so well that you don't know what they are talking about until he was given more context. 10/10, now I need to sleep.

OMG IT'S UPDATED"!!!!!
I remember reading this when I don't have an account, I'm so glad to see it again and read the ending. Big shout-out to the author irl friend, they're a real one.
The story itself just got be squealing like a fish, they are both so flipping cuteeeeeeeee. Gosh- I felt bad for Techno whenever he used nether language to Dream, sending love confession but receiving insults & hits because the boy doesn't know the language, very ouchie. Welp- That is to be expected from Dream (along with the old-married type of banter they have).
Also- I was not expecting Punz to be in the Nether, either way, this made me hype up since Stageduo is peak. Pogs to Sapnap for teaching Dream the Nether language, learning the grammar is always the difficult part besides from pronunciation. It's like speaking on a language then one wrong grammar could shift the entire meaning of your sentence, pretty frustrating. Dream did a pretty good job on learning for a year (or is it 8 months?), extremely satisfied when he used it to confess to Techno.
Anyways, I love Puffy in here. Every offer for her son to marry someone not Technoblade is always rejected, said son is busy being in love with a prince. This part alone just got my respect for her tower up.
“I refused Punz because you would murder each other within a month,” Puffy said bluntly. “And because you already had your eyes on a certain half-piglin menace here.”
“I do not-”
“Day,” she said sharply. “You talk about Technoblade more than you talk about yourself. When you were little, you complained about him nonstop. Then you started coming home from the yard with a bruised jaw and a stupid little smile, and you still complained about him nonstop. When you were in the Nether, every other story had his name in it somewhere, even if he wasn't there with us.”
Dream opened his mouth, then shut it again.
Puffy sighed, some of the exasperation draining from her shoulders. “I did not arrange anything, my son,” she said more gently. “There have been… suggestions. Of course, there have. You are talented. You are my son. People notice. But I said no because none of them were him."
Dream is dumb for thinking that, ain't no way Puffy is arranging him to someone when he is obviously into Technoblade, even Punz seems to acknowledge it (I think-). Dream- He is such an absolute moron for running away like that, that stings y'know?? Now I know why the misunderstanding tag is there because he is so raaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh- In the bright side, I'm glad he went back and actually got the kiss. Best ending here, thank goodness, 10/10 story, I love you Author for this.
