Summary
The terms Barish-Estranza gives the lost colony are simple. Unconditional surrender, sign indenture paperwork for every adult and child, or they will eliminate all dissidents on record using a Combat SecUnit, and the killing will continue until they get their way.
The people of Esperia have no idea what that is. Barish-Estranza has technology that they have never seen. But they know they have to save the children. They pack the colony's children onto their one functioning ship, the Horizon, along with teachers and a barely adequate crew, and send them toward the wormhole that may lead back to the world that the Esperian colonists originally came from.
Barish-Estranza doesn't want to admit it, but they're unexpectedly missing their best threat.
And, onboard the Horizon, a child tells his teacher that there's a mysterious person in the machine closet…

While on an undercover mission deep in the Corporation Rim, Tarik
buysstealsrescuesacquires a ComfortUnit. This is fine—it can hang out while he finishes the mission, he’ll be not-an-asshole to it, and then it can go on its liberated way and never have to see him again. This will definitely not get weird and messy.Bookmarked by TotallyNotALamp

Summary
Murderbot has found a fauna imitative companion construct (it was abandoned on a planet—we all know how our favourite SecUnit feels about that)...
It has a new home waiting for it on Preservation Planet, but first it needs to spend a brief quarantine period on the Station.

Summary
I could have become a mass murderer after I hacked my governor module, but then I realized that the company supply drops were coming less and less often. It had been well over 35,000 hours since then, with still not much murdering, unless you consider leaving a colony of ten thousand helpless humans to starve to be murder.

If there had been a SecUnit in the colony, there probably would have been a compelling reason why it had to stay behind on the dying planet.

Summary
It's been two years since Gurathin's last overdose, keeping him from a long sabotage mission meant to get rid of some far-away planetary leader.
He hates it kind of makes sense the Company won't send him alone now: Deep cover, several weeks long. A hotel whose private networks he'll use to data-mine, and people he'll have to kill. His bodyguard is supposed to pose as an augmented human, though — So of course he wonders if they're sending him to die. SecUnits aren't even sentient. Right?
Maybe the best thing he could do is disappear. And maybe the best way to try is doing it together.
