In the midst of a years-long cold war between the Undersea kingdom of Natarus and the Oversea town of Sagedale, a young pirate meets an abandoned triton, bleeding and frightened.
Two days later, the pirate feels his body hit the surface of the ocean. His lungs fill with water. He does not drown. The gills that open up on either side of his neck, and the inky black tail that grows from his hips, makes sure of that.

Summary
Years ago, the Kingdom of the Undersea was invaded by the Navy, who overthrew their (admittedly tyrannical) rulers and forced many Undersea citizens out of the sea. Of the nobility, Princess Edyn Tidestrider is thought to be the only survivor— but there have always been rumors of her brother, Gillion, surviving too. Edyn was assumed to simply be in mourning, but recently, she announced a reward for anyone that can find the lost Prince…
Meanwhile, a street rat named Chip has gathered a team to collect that reward: himself, a waitress with mysterious motivations, and a triton street sweeper with amnesia. This story is mostly about them.
