    Tim has become emotional numb, focusing solely on logic. Kon showing up manages to cause him to realize he can take things one step at a time in allowing himself to feel again.

    The writing is clinical and precise in exactly the way you'd expect of Tim's thoughts and incredibly well done.

    “Hey, hey, it's okay,” Dick tried to soothe, his hand awkwardly hovering over Tim's back. “We'll get it back. What was in it? Do you need it for a case or something?”

    Tim stiffened.

    “Tim?”

    “It's private,” Tim muttered, wanting to die.

    “A private case? Or - “ Dick's eyes widened in realization. “Tim, do you keep a diary?”

    For a frighteningly long time, Tam just looks at him, making him squirm in his seat in a way very few people can. He half expects her to get up and leave like she did after the thing with her dad happened, but she just sits there.
    “Ninja,” she says eventually, making him flinch and look down at his pizza. Maybe he deserves the terror of actually eating the thing.
    “Yeah,” he says. “I really am sorry about that, Tam. I didn’t know what else to do.”

    Tim has some things he needs to make up to Tam. It seemed like a good idea to ask Jason for help at first. A Twitch stream, a previously undiscovered talent for baking, and a fandom are the result.

    Tim should be excited, right?

    He had asked for this, spent weeks hoping it would work out. Tim wanted this. Wanted to move in with the Waynes, wanted desperately to not be so alone anymore.

    And yet, for some reason, he didn't feel better. It was as though he'd been set adrift, none of the anchors of his old life left to cling to. No rocks, no routines. And even though everything at Wayne Manor was better, it was so very different.

    Or: When you're autistic, even the best changes can still be overwhelming. The Manor comes with more interaction, with more noise, with more life and Tim doesn't know how to handle it. Things come to a head with the first meltdown Tim's had outside of his carefully constructed hiding place.

    The biggest change of all is that now there are people to catch Tim when he's falling.

She was a weapon, built only to hurt and take and hurt and take and hurt, of course she would fall in love with the idea of using her lessons to make life better for others, to help them.

    Now if only she could get her new brother on board with getting caught by the Bat so they could be officially included in the nightlife, things would be perfect.
