Summary
Higuruma is tired. Every day, every case, he is reminded of how disgusting and ugly this world is. He's not sure how much longer he'll last. “Karl, what the fuck?” he hissed. Had wondered why Karl’d insisted on bringing the hammer.
Karl hefted the thing back up as if it weighed nothing, clumps of snow dropping from it as he brought it back up to rest against his shoulder.
“We’re gonna jog your memory,” he said, grinning. Then he adjusted his grip on the hammer and swung it, forcing Ethan to dodge again.
“If I had known,” Ethan bit out, scrambling out of the way of another blow, “that you were going to pull this shit, I wouldn’t have agreed to come out here.”
“Just trying to help here, Ethan,” Karl laughed, the sound drawing out into guffaws as Ethan cursed at him, rolling away from another blow.
“Oh, fuck you,” Ethan said, keeping his distance as Karl prowled forward.
Karl merely leered at him. “Would be amenable to that, too,” he said.
