He swirls around in front of the cereals display, eyes growing wide when he sees the owner of the voice. “Cassie?”
“Oh, my god! It’s really you!” she exclaims, and even before he can process it, she has already pulled him into a tight hug. “I feared you were gone.”
“Well, I’m officially dead,” he chuckles.
“I know. It’s not funny, Dean.”
He heard that one before, in a way deeper voice and from someone whose name resembles hers. It hurts thinking of him.
